Trump's remarks came during a refueling stop in the Qatari capital, Doha, en route to Malaysia to participate in the 47th ASEAN Summit.
During the stopover, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani boarded the plane for talks with the US President regarding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and efforts to consolidate it.
The meeting was also attended by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who returned from a visit to Israel as part of diplomatic efforts to prevent the collapse of the agreement.
"It's an honor," Trump said during his meeting with the Emir of Qatar and the Prime Minister. "We have a great ally, and these are two great men. I just want to express our thanks."
The US President added: "What has been achieved in the Middle East is amazing, and the State of Qatar has played a major role in bringing about peace. We have accomplished a lot together, especially over the past year."
Trump noted that the United States and Qatar have a close partnership, stressing that "Qatar has a secure Middle East and will maintain it for a long time."
Qatar played a key role in mediating a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, based on a plan proposed by Trump to end the two-year war in the Gaza Strip.
On October 9, Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement. The first phase of the agreement went into effect the following day, but Israel continues to violate it.
Israel has been committing genocide since October 8, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 68,519 Palestinians, the injury of 170,382 others, most of them children and women, and the destruction of 90% of civilian infrastructure.
