Turkish officials: The Knesset's decision to annex the West Bank undermines the Gaza agreement and is a step towards a policy of genocide.

In a post on the Turkish social media platform InSocial on Wednesday, Yilmaz noted that "the West Bank is occupied Palestinian territory," stressing that the Israeli Knesset's decision to annex West Bank lands is "illegal and invalid."

Yilmaz stressed that "this approach is simultaneously a destructive act that undermines the fragile ceasefire reached in Gaza and represents a blatant threat to regional stability."

A ceasefire agreement was reached in Gaza on October 10, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey, following negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Yilmaz called on all countries that recognize the State of Palestine, and all countries and international institutions that adhere to international law, to stand against "this aggression directed against the Palestinian people and their land."

He added, "Our support for the oppressed Palestinian people will continue until the occupation ends and the State of Palestine is established on the basis of the two-state solution."

In a related development, Turkish Justice and Development Party spokesman Omer Celik stated on Wednesday that the Israeli Knesset's decision to annex the occupied West Bank is a new step in the policy of genocide.

"The Israeli parliament's decision to annex the occupied West Bank is a new step in its policy of genocide and a completely illegal act of aggression," Celik said in a post on the Turkish platform NSocial.

He added, "This aggression aims to undermine the ceasefire process." Celik emphasized that "the West Bank is the homeland of the Palestinians, and we completely reject this barbaric decision."

He continued: "The establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with geographic unity, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, will not be prevented."

On Wednesday, the Israeli Knesset approved, in its preliminary reading, two bills: one to annex the occupied West Bank, and the other to annex the Ma'ale Adumim settlement, built on Palestinian land east of occupied Jerusalem.

For the two bills to become effective, they must pass three additional readings in the Knesset.

It is noteworthy that Israel occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in 1967, a move considered a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law.
