Türkiye strengthens humanitarian efforts in Gaza, appoints aid coordinator ambassador

Sources explained that Ambassador Mehmet Güloğlu was appointed coordinator for Turkish humanitarian aid to Palestine, to coordinate efforts between Turkish institutions and relevant local and international bodies.

She added that Güloğlu and his team began their duties on October 15, 2025. Their duties include prioritizing the required aid, coordinating with UN agencies operating in Gaza to support their activities, and ensuring the delivery of Turkish aid to those in need, in cooperation with Turkish institutions there.

The sources also indicated that the coordinator will hold consultations with local authorities in Egypt and Jordan regarding aid being sent through the two countries, in addition to strengthening Turkish healthcare support to the Gaza Strip, including patient evacuations.

Turkish Foreign Ministry sources noted that since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, Ankara has sent 102,000 tons of relief supplies to the Strip by air and sea. On October 14, 2025, a ship carrying approximately 865 tons of aid sailed from the port of Mersin to the Egyptian port of El-Arish, in preparation for its transfer to the Strip.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been perpetrating a two-year genocide in the Gaza Strip, killing 67,938 people and wounding 170,169 others, most of them children and women, and causing a famine that claimed the lives of 463 Palestinians, including 157 children.
