Oaxaca, September 26.—More than five years after the police operation in Asunción Nochixtlán on June 19, 2016, in which eight civilians were killed and more than 100 were injured by gunfire, the first arrests were made early Saturday morning; two retired security commanders, one from the State Police and the other from the defunct Federal Police ( PF ).
According to security sources, Juan PA , who served as director of the State Police's Special Forces Division in 2016, was arrested in Oaxaca City ; while Carlos GR was apprehended in Mexico City.
In those years, he was part of the PF, one of the agents leading the eviction requested by the government of then-governor Gabino Cué Monteagudo (2010-2016).
On June 19, 2016 , elements of the federal, state and Gendarmerie police carried out an action in Asunción Nochixtlán, a town in the Mixteca region , where teachers from section 22 of the National Coordinator of Education Workers ( CNTE ) maintained a road blockade in protest of the imposition of the educational reform , as well as the arrest of members of the Sectional Executive Committee.
