YouTube announced that it has paid more than US$8 billion (around Rp133 trillion) to the music industry in the past year, specifically from July 2024 to July 2025.
YouTube Music Global Head Lyor Cohen said in a statement that the billion-dollar payment is clear evidence that advertising revenue and subscriptions on the platform from music fans show positive platform growth performance.
"This figure isn't an endpoint; it represents meaningful and ongoing progress on our journey to build a long-term home for every musician, songwriter, and publisher on the global stage," said Lyor Cohen, as quoted by TechCrunch, Thursday (23/10) local time.
This was first announced by Cohen when he was a speaker at the Billboard Latin Music Week event
