The movement was banned last July, placing it in the same category as the terrorist organizations ISIS and al-Qaeda. The measure also makes membership in it a crime punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
The movement increasingly targeted Israeli-linked businesses in Britain through "direct action," with its members blocking company entrances, smashing windows, or spraying them with red paint.
The British Home Office moved to ban the movement after an escalating series of incidents that culminated in the storming of RAF Brize Norton in June, when members of the movement damaged two aircraft.
Opponents of the ban say that acts of protest involving property damage cannot be considered terrorism and that this move would undermine the right to protest.
The movement was founded in 2020 and gained prominence for protests targeting Israeli defense companies and their British affiliates. It intensified its activities during the Gaza war.
