Road closures and curfews imposed: Israeli occupation forces launch a large-scale military operation in the Tubas governorate in the northern West Bank.

Large army forces stormed the city and surrounding towns, accompanied by military bulldozers, while Israeli helicopters flew overhead and fired at targets whose nature was not disclosed. The army also imposed a curfew within the governorate and closed its entrances with earth mounds and military barriers.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli occupation forces raided several homes and ransacked their contents, while continuing to send reinforcements to the area. Bulldozers also closed main and secondary roads in Tubas, Aqaba, and Tammun.

In the same context, the army forces tightened their procedures at the Tayasir and Hamra checkpoints, which caused disruption to the movement of vehicles and traffic jams.

Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Governor Ahmed Al-Asaad said that Israel informed the Palestinian authorities that the military operation "may continue for several days," stressing that the army's claims of the presence of "security suspects" in the area are "false," and that the operation is political in nature and not security-related.

Al-Asaad added that the goal of the operation is to divide the province and paralyze the movement of citizens, noting the activation of the emergency committee to monitor the situation of the residents.

Due to the developments on the ground, the Directorate of Education in Tubas announced the closure of schools and kindergartens, while the governor decided to suspend the work of governmental and private institutions in order to preserve the safety of citizens.

During the escalation of attacks in the West Bank since October 2023, the Israeli army and settlers have killed at least 1,080 Palestinians, injured approximately 11,000, and arrested 20,500, according to official Palestinian sources.
