Chinese fiber optic yarn manufacturer Yangtze Optical Fiber and Cable (YOFC) celebrated a decade of its presence in Indonesia at its production facility in Karawang, West Java Province, on Thursday (November 13). This also marked YOFC's role in building digital infrastructure and reducing the digital divide in Indonesia.
As a leading global fiber optic producer, YOFC has supplied over 28,000 kilometers of optical cable connecting more than 80 cities in Indonesia, supporting fast internet access for nearly 2 million households.
"Guided by a global perspective and deep local engagement, we have grown alongside communities, expanding digital access, driving technological innovation, and building shared prosperity," said YOFC Executive Director and President Zhuang Dan in a statement.
Over the past 10 years, YOFC's business in Indonesia has contributed to the creation of more than 1,000 direct jobs, as well as an additional approximately 4,000 indirect jobs through partnerships with hundreds of local suppliers.
Indonesia became the first country for YOFC's global expansion and a key facility for the company's services in Southeast Asia. The company has also established production facilities in five other countries: Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, Poland, and Germany.
