The Chairman of the Indonesian Telematics Society (Mastel), Sarwoto Atmosutarno, is pushing for the implementation of 5G technology in Indonesia to no longer fall below 10 percent and to increase cooperation with technology providers.
"So, hopefully, 5G will happen. I heard the 5G frequency auction has been accelerated. And that will be an opportunity for us to have 5G available throughout Indonesia at a more competitive price," Sarwoto said at the 2025 Hackathon event, supported by Ericsson and Qualcomm, in Jakarta on Friday.
He said 5G has low latency, and has speeds of up to 400 megabytes per second, and is also important for implementing use cases or providing solutions to real-world problems.
He said 5G is very useful for running Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based machine-to-machine programs with all connectivity via the internet of things.
