Alwi Farhan secured a crucial victory to secure his place in the quarter-finals.

Indonesian men's singles player Alwi Farhan secured a crucial victory as he prepares for the quarterfinals of the 2025 Australian Open.

In the last 16 of the Super 500 tournament, Alwi defeated Indian athlete, Prannoy HS, with a score of 21-19, 21-10 at the Quaycentre, Olympic Boulevard, Thursday.

"This victory provides good capital for tomorrow. Let's do our best," Alwi said in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

Despite not testing the court the day before because his opponent withdrew, the young Indonesian badminton player was able to immediately find his playing rhythm from the start of the match.

"Thank God, we won today. I was supposed to play and try out the pitch to get used to it, but my opponent withdrew. So, I was quite happy to be able to jump right into the match," said Alwi.
