Semiconductor company Broadcom is collaborating with technology company CAMB.AI to bring on -device audio translation to their latest chipset.
As reported by Engadget on Tuesday, this technology allows devices using the chip to perform translation, voice-over, and audio description independently without needing to connect to cloud services .
Both companies claim the chip will be capable of local translation in more than 150 languages on the device.
This collaboration is said to improve user accessibility with extremely low latency and enhanced privacy, as the entire process takes place directly on the user's device without sending data to an external server. This technology can significantly reduce wireless bandwidth usage.
As part of a demonstration of the technology's capabilities, Broadcom and CAMB.AI showed a demonstration video using footage from the movie Ratatouille.
