Cardiovascular specialist Dr. MariaPodgornaya points out that when the body is fighting off colds, the stomach should not be overloaded and the immune system should be supported

According to her, there are foods that should be avoided while suffering from a cold.

She says: "The body's immune system is reliably linked to the state of the digestive system. Therefore, we must keep the digestive system functioning normally to avoid seasonal health problems."

According to her, appetite often decreases during the acute phase of the illness, so there's no need to force the body to eat. During this period, it's better to drink water, natural juices, fruit infusions, or weak tea to support the body and avoid overloading the digestive system.

To avoid weakening the immune system, the doctor recommends eliminating fried foods, spicy seasonings, cabbage, hard-skinned fruits, grapes, beans, and peas from the diet. She also advises avoiding sweets, coffee, alcohol, canned goods, fast food, rye bread, and sausages.

She says: "After the illness, it is preferable to gradually transition from the diet followed during the illness to the normal diet. As a general rule, after the symptoms of an acute viral infection disappear, the body needs another 5-10 days to fully recover."
