The New York Times reported this, citing Lonvi Biosciences' technical director, Liu Qinghua, who also said that living to 150 years old is now possible and will become a reality within a few years.
Lonvi Biosciences is a longevity medicine startup based in Shenzhen, southern China. The company focuses on developing a drug based on the natural compound procyanidin (C1 PCC1), extracted from grape seeds.
The company’s methodologies are based on research published by scientists in Shanghai, where experiments showed that the PCC1 compound extended the lifespan of mice by 9.4%, and increased their survival time since the start of treatment by 64.2%, by selectively killing senescent cells.
Liu Qinghua confirmed that living to 150 years old is certainly realistic, but at the same time indicated that the company takes a skeptical stance on claims that modern medicine can completely eliminate death.
