The doctor told the Russian website Life.ru: "Disorders of bowel function, especially alternation between constipation and diarrhea, can be an early sign of cancer. Many people do not pay attention to this symptom, considering it normal in their bodies, but in reality, it requires an urgent visit to the doctor."
Markarian added that eight out of ten cancer patients noticed this symptom in the early stages of their illness.
He also pointed out that the appearance of mucous or bloody secretions in the stool, especially if they persist for a long time, is a worrying indicator that may indicate gastrointestinal cancers, which requires immediate examination by a colon and rectal specialist.
The doctor concluded by warning that ignoring these symptoms and not seeking treatment could lead to a worsening of the condition and the development of serious diseases such as hemorrhoids, proctitis, or colon cancer.
