East Java Province has narrowed the gap with Central Java Province by four gold medals in the provisional standings for the 17th National Student Sports Week (Popnans) and the 11th National Student Paralympic Week (Peparpenas) in Jakarta 2025.
According to the medal tally report on the official Popnas 2025 website in Jakarta on Saturday, the East Java contingent won 39 gold medals, 44 silver medals, and 40 bronze medals.
East Java's gold medal tally increased from the previous 31 gold medals, a difference of nine gold medals compared to Central Java.
The Central Java contingent added three gold medals, bringing their total to 43 gold medals, 30 silver medals, and 39 bronze medals, securing second place in the standings.
Previously, East Java was ranked fourth in the standings. However, brilliant performances by athletes from various sports increased their medal tally, pushing West Java into third place.
