Gibran arrives in South Africa for the G20 Summit, greeted with Pantsula dance

  Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa, Friday afternoon local time, to attend the G20 Summit and was greeted by a local dance, Pantsula.


After a flight of approximately 10 hours and 50 minutes, the Vice President and his entourage arrived at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, Friday at approximately 15.15 local time.






After descending the plane's stairs, Gibran was greeted by the South African Minister of Electricity and Energy, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, the Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (LBBP) to South Africa Saud Purwanto Krisnawan, and the Indonesian Defense Attaché in Pretoria Colonel (Mar) Guntur Almasyih.




Gibran, accompanied by the South African Minister of Electricity and Energy, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, also walked through the honor guard.






Gibran also had the chance to watch a local Pantsula dance performance performed by three young men wearing red checked shirts and yellow hats.

After the welcoming ceremony, the Vice President and his entourage are scheduled to continue their journey to the Saxon Hotel Johannesburg to begin their working visit to South Africa.






Gibran's presence at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, was to carry out an assignment from President Prabowo Subianto who was unable to attend.




The Vice President will deliver a speech on behalf of President Prabowo and emphasize Indonesia's position on various priority global issues.




The Vice President's presence at this forum underscores the Indonesian government's commitment under President Prabowo Subianto to continue playing an active role in global economic recovery and strengthening international cooperation.




The G20 South Africa Summit will take place over two days, on 22–23 November 2025, at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.




‎In addition, during the G20 Summit series, the Vice President is also scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings with leaders of friendly countries to convey President Prabowo's message, particularly regarding strengthening relations and cooperation between countries.
