Greysia said that this collaboration is a form of her contribution after retirement to the world that has made her name.
"This is our continued contribution to badminton. This is also a message from our coaches, especially me, as a woman, now a wife and a mother. My focus is on my family. Through this, I can stay updated on the world of badminton in Indonesia and the world," Greysia said at a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.
Greysia and Hendra once partnered as a mixed doubles pair when they were under the same club, Jaya Raya, and won a gold medal at the National Championships (Kejurnas) in 2001.
Recalling those moments, Greysia said that the moment she paired up with Hendra was a turning point for her to focus on the doubles sector.
Moreover, Hendra, as a more senior player at that time, already had experience winning in the doubles sector, which inspired Greysia, when Hendra successfully won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with Markus Kido.
"We all know that Ko Jeng is a calm person. We know his personality and character. It was very easy for us to work together," said Greysia, who later matched Hendra's achievement by winning gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
