The National Water Ski and Wakeboard Team is aiming for at least one gold medal through the 12 athletes who will compete in the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this coming December.
"We are targeting one gold medal in the team slalom event out of four events being contested," said Indonesian National Water Ski and Wakeboard Team Coach Febrianto Kadir.
He conveyed the medal target during a discussion with the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Contingent for the 2025 SEA Games, Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, who was monitoring the training camp of the Indonesian National Water Ski and Wakeboard Team at Sunter Lake, North Jakarta.
Febrianto explained that in the upcoming SEA Games, the water ski and wakeboard branches will compete in four categories, namely team slalom, team wakeboard, team wakesurf, and team cable wakeboard.
Of the four events, they are targeting gold in the team slalom event. This target reflects Indonesia's recent achievement at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, where Indonesia won gold in the cable ski mixed team event, which includes slalom and tricks.
"In fact, in Thailand only slalom is contested, tricks are not contested," he said.
