IGRS is implemented to ensure games meet child protection requirements.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital stated that the risk and age-based game classification system, the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS), was implemented to ensure that every game circulating in Indonesia meets the provisions on child protection in the digital space.

"This system ensures that every game has a clear age label and complies with child protection provisions in the digital space," said Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, when asked for confirmation .

Alexander said that the IGRS is used as a reference in monitoring the distribution of online games to prevent the negative impacts of games on children.

"Supervision doesn't just apply to one type of game like PUBG, but covers all platforms and online games that contain content inappropriate for children," he said.

"The digital space, including games and social media, should not be a borderless space," he added.

He made this statement in response to the government's plan to limit the use of online games following the explosion incident that occurred at State High School 72 Jakarta on Friday (7/11).
