The Indonesian fencing team closed its performance at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) Riyadh in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, by winning two bronze medals in the women's sabre and floret team events. The sabre team, strengthened by Alma Fauziah Ismail, Nissa Nazwa, and Indah Nur Safarin, lost 13-35 to Uzbekistan in the semifinals.
Alma and her teammates had to settle for a bronze medal alongside Türkiye. Azerbaijan won the gold medal after defeating Uzbekistan in the final.
Meanwhile, the floret team, comprised of Putri Yanti, Siti Putri Amalia, and Jesyca Emilia, also took home bronze after losing 33-45 to Bahrain in the semifinals. Oman won the gold medal, while Bahrain took silver.
Alma Fuziah Ismail assessed that her team played quite well considering the quality of opponents who have more experience in multi-sport levels such as ISG.
"We tried to play with nothing to lose, but remained disciplined with the coach's strategy," said Alma in a statement from the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI).
He admitted that the team still needed to improve its technical consistency, particularly given its early lead but frequent loss of focus at crucial moments.
