Magic beat Celtics in NBA Cup opener

Franz Wagner and Desmond Bane were the driving force behind the Orlando Magic's victory when they defeated the Boston Celtics 123-110 in the NBA Cup opener at the Kia Center, Orlando.

Wagner had an explosive 27 points, while Bane scored 22 points and dished out seven assists, keeping the Magic's offense steady throughout. The two led a 17-4 run in the final quarter that sealed the victory over the defending Eastern Conference champions.

Boston actually rallied and even took a 96-95 lead on a mid-range shot by Jaylen Brown midway through the fourth quarter. However, the lead was short-lived as Bane, Wagner, and Wendell Carter Jr. responded with a barrage of 3-pointers that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
