American boxer Mikaela Mayer defeated Mary Spencer to become the World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight (69.8 kg) champion in a fight in Monreal, United States.
"Mayer secured a resounding victory via unanimous decision of 100-90, 98-92, and 98-92, reflecting his dominance throughout the 10 rounds," the WBA reported on its official website, as monitored in Jakarta on Saturday.
Mayer set the tempo from the start, utilizing a sharp jab , clever footwork, and measured pressure.
Meanwhile, Spencer tried to capitalize on his reach and power, but the American was consistently quicker on the attack, landing clean combinations to the head and body.
A sharp straight left in the second round rocked the defending champion, setting the tone for a brilliant tactical fight.
Spencer, making his second title defense, showed toughness and resilience, but couldn't break Mayer's rhythm or leadership in the ring.
By controlling the center of the ring and cutting angles, Mayer avoided lengthy exchanges and controlled the tempo throughout the match.

"The most important thing now is that I have options. I'm comfortable at super welterweight, but I could move down to welterweight and pursue the undisputed title. I'm ready for whatever comes," Mayer said after the fight.
