Transmigration Minister Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara emphasized the importance of re-contracting to clarify the rights and obligations of transmigrants, after it was discovered that many previous placements did not have legal documents that form the basis for land security.
Minister of Transmigration Iftitah, on the sidelines of the handover of 402 Land Ownership Certificates (SHM) to transmigrants in Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), Thursday, explained that re-contracts are needed so that each transmigrant knows in writing the size of the promised land, whether one hectare, two hectares, or just residential land according to regional conditions.
"What I mean by re-contracting is that I tried to find out whether there was an agreement at the time of placement. It turns out there wasn't any document. During President Prabowo's administration, I said that such a document must be in place. Why is that? To clarify rights and obligations," said Minister of Transportation Iftitah.
He said that the legal document is expected to be a strong basis in the event of disputes, overlapping ownership, or land boundary issues, so that transmigrants have a clear legal basis to demand their rights.
