The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) stated that network recovery in disaster-affected areas depends on the handling of cellular operators (opsel), considering that they are the telecommunications service providers in the area.
"The recovery target will of course depend heavily on local cellular operators as the providers (of telecommunications services)," said Ervan Fathurokhman Adiwidjaja, Acting Director General of Digital Infrastructure at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region, on Thursday.
Ervan said that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Services, along with cellular operators, continues to monitor progress in efforts to restore telecommunications networks and infrastructure disrupted by floods and landslides in several areas in Sumatra.
In this effort, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology also involved various parties such as the TNI, PLN, and the local Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Center.
