The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, expressed its pride in the achievements of its athlete, Frans Marcelino Doyapo, who won a gold medal in the 400-meter sprint at the 11th Jakarta National Student Paralympic Week (Peparnas).
Jayapura Regency NPC Chairman Reynaldi Tokoro, speaking to ANTARA in Sentani on Saturday, said the achievement is clear evidence that development of disability sports in the region continues to develop and is able to compete at the national level.
"Frans's achievements are the result of hard work, disciplined training, and support from various parties. This serves as motivation for other young athletes with disabilities in Jayapura Regency," he said.
According to Reynaldi, Frans Marcelino Doyapo is one of the potential young athletes who has been developed through a regular training program under the supervision of the NPC coach of Jayapura Regency.
"We saw Frans' extraordinary talent from the start. His success at Peparnas XI proves that children with disabilities in Jayapura Regency have great potential if they are nurtured sustainably," he said.
