Nvidia Corp. plans to deploy up to 260,000 Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) in South Korea through partnerships with the government and major local companies to build a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) factory in the country.
The initiative will involve the South Korean government and major industry leaders, including Samsung Electronics Co., SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group and Naver Cloud Corp., each of which will set up its own AI computing center powered by Nvidia's latest Blackwell GPUs, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.
Under the plans shared by Nvidia, the Seoul government will allocate up to 50,000 Nvidia GPUs to support the creation of a nationally sovereign AI platform designed to train large language model (LLM) machines optimized for the Korean language and industrial applications.
