The Polytron Muria Cup Sirnas C 2025 in Kudus Regency, Central Java, has officially earned national ranking points, making it a prestigious event contested by badminton clubs in Indonesia, said Central Java PBSI Chairman Akhmad Khafidz Basri Yusuf.
"The enthusiasm of participants in the Polytron Muria Cup National Circuit (Sirnas) C 2025 event which took place at the Djarum Jati Sports Hall, Kudus, Central Java was very high with a total of 1,226 athletes from various age groups," he said on the sidelines of the Polytron Muria Cup Sirnas C 2025 event at the Djarum Jati Sports Hall, Kudus, Saturday.
The national event, he said, consists of 13 age categories for boys and girls, so that a total of 26 categories are being competed in.
Basri explained that Sirnas C is now on the official calendar of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), meaning all competing athletes will receive national ranking points. Previously, Sirnas C wasn't included, but this year it is officially recognized as a private championship that receives national ranking points.
Although held in Central Java, participants came from various regions of Indonesia. Several clubs from Kalimantan, Surabaya, Batam, and several provinces outside the island participated. The competition was dominated by clubs from Central Java, but many athletes from outside the region also reached key rounds.
According to Basri, the quality of the competition in this event is quite intense, as major clubs are fielding their best athletes to chase national points. "The quality of play is very competitive. Not only from big clubs like Djarum, but international athletes are also able to reach the quarterfinals and even the semifinals," he said.
This event is also said to be one of the final evaluations before the national championship (Kejurnas). The competition will take place in two rounds in one day: the quarterfinals and semifinals, with the final scheduled for the following day, with 13 matches up for grabs.
Basri added that this championship is important in the development process, especially for young athletes.
"Sports development requires a long process, at least 10 years. Sirnas C is part of the talent identification process to identify potential candidates who can be developed into elite national athletes," he said.
Beyond the points-based competition, this championship serves as a platform for each athlete and club to test their competitive abilities. This event provides clubs with the broadest possible opportunity to truly assess their athletes' abilities, not just to chase titles.
