Braun out for six weeks with ankle injury

Denver Nuggets basketball player Christian Braun is confirmed to be sidelined for at least six weeks due to a left ankle injury, during the 2025-2026 NBA away game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

According to the NBA website, quoted in Jakarta on Saturday, the Nuggets stated that the guard would undergo further evaluation to monitor the progress of his recovery.

Braun suffered the injury while the Nuggets were enjoying an impressive start to the season. The 24-year-old has become a key component of the team's rotation, averaging 11.4 points per game (ppg) and 4.4 rebounds per game (rpg) for a team that currently boasts a 9-2 record.

Losing Braun is a blow for the Nuggets considering his increasing contributions since last season.

At the start of the 2025-2026 season, Braun had just agreed to a five-year, $125 million contract extension. He has also consistently performed as a starter, averaging 15.4 points per game (PPG) and 5.2 points per game (RPG) last season.

The young basketball player is known for his intense defense and strong work ethic. His playing style is considered a good fit for coach Michael Malone's system, especially when he's on the court with Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Aaron Gordon.

The pacesetter was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 21st overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Braun comes with a reputation as a national champion with the University of Kansas.

He then proved his worth by playing a key role in Denver's success in winning their first NBA title in 2023.

Following Christian Braun's absence, the team is expected to increase the playing time of several reserve players, pending further medical evaluations in the coming weeks.
