Brooks was fined $25,000 for inappropriate gestures.

Phoenix Suns basketball player Dillon Brooks was fined US$25,000 after making an inappropriate gesture on the court during a 2025-2026 NBA game against the Indiana Pacers.

According to the NBA website quoted in Jakarta, Saturday, the announcement of the fine was made by Phoenix Suns Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations James Jones.

The misconduct occurred with 54 seconds remaining in the second quarter at the Mortgage Matchup Center.

During the incident, the forward was caught on camera making a move deemed to be a violation of competition etiquette. The NBA deemed the action inconsistent with the standards of player conduct during a game.

The game itself ended with a convincing Suns victory over the Pacers, 133-98. Despite his dominant performance and contribution to his team's victory, Brooks' behavior remained a major concern after the game.

Brooks' fine adds to the NBA's list of sanctions this season related to player conduct violations.

The league has consistently emphasized its commitment to maintaining the professionalism of its athletes, especially in the context of games that are widely televised and watched by millions of fans worldwide.

The Suns have yet to issue an official statement regarding the fine. Brooks has also not commented on the incident, which resulted in his significant fine.

The NBA emphasized that the rules regarding on-court conduct will continue to be enforced to ensure games are played in a competitive atmosphere, while still respecting sportsmanship and fair play .

Meanwhile, a lewd gesture is a movement that is considered obscene, inappropriate, or sexual in nature, so the NBA considers this action to be negative.
