The Indonesian boxing sports organization, the Indonesian Boxing Association (Perbati), has officially become a member of the international boxing organization World Boxing, which is recognized by the International Olympic Committee or IOC.
"Perbati has officially become an official member of World Boxing. Perbati's position as the only Indonesian amateur boxing organization has also been recognized by the 47 participants who attended the World Boxing Congress," said Perbati Chairman Ray Zulham Farras Nugraha in a Perbati statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Ray Zulham received Perbati's recognition as a member of World Boxing when he and his staff and the General Chair of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) or NOC Indonesia Raja Sapta Oktohari attended the World Boxing Congress attended by representatives from 47 countries in Rome, Italy, November 22-23.
The inaugural congress also elected world boxing legend Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan as President of World Boxing. He becomes the second leader of World Boxing after Boris Van Der Vorst, who led the body from 2023 to 2025.
Ray Zulham also met with Gennady Golovkin at the congress and discussed the development of Indonesian boxing under the auspices of Perbati.
