Play-off draw results: six teams compete for two tickets to the 2026 World Cup

  FIFA held the draw for the inter-confederation play-offs and European play-offs for the 2026 World Cup at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, on Thursday.


Specifically for the inter-confederation play-offs, six teams from five confederations will compete for the two remaining tickets to the 2026 World Cup finals, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.


The six teams that qualified for the inter-confederation play-offs were Iraq (AFC/Asia), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (CAF/Africa), Jamaica and Suriname (CONCACAF/Central America and the Caribbean), Bolivia (CONMEBOL/South America), and New Caledonia (OFC/Oceania).


Based on the latest FIFA rankings, the Democratic Republic of Congo (highest ranked) was automatically placed as host in the Path A Finals, while Iraq (second highest ranked) automatically became host in the Path B Finals.
