Indonesian women's singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani secured a place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Australian Open after defeating Taiwanese athlete Wen Chi Hsu 21-15, 21-10 at the Quaycentre, Olympic Boulevard, on Thursday.
The second seed appeared more composed than their last meeting at another Super 50 tournament, the 2025 Indonesia Masters, when Putri lost to Hsu 21-18, 17-21, 14-21. That experience was a valuable lesson she carried into this match.
"Overall, I'm happy I was able to play the way I wanted. I lost a rubber against her earlier, so when I entered the court, I tried to be as relaxed as possible to stay calm and avoid making too many unforced errors," Putri said in an official PBSI statement after the match.
