Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo has yet to assess the performance of the new V4 engine on the 2026 Yamaha M1.
In the test session at the Ricardo Torno Circuit, Valencia, Tuesday night, El Diablo finished 15th or 0.554 seconds behind the best time recorded by Trackhouse racer Raul Fernandez who was the fastest.
"I did the first test with the standard bike (the 2025 bike, with the inline-four engine), and then we spent the whole day trying to find a bit of a base for the new bike," Qurtararo was quoted as saying by Motorsport.
"We know we don't have it yet, but we've done a lot of work with the V4 engine, and luckily we have another day tomorrow (Wednesday, a private test, where Izan Guevara will try a MotoGP bike)," added Quartararo.
The French rider admitted that he had tried riding a motorbike with a V4 engine three times but could not yet give an assessment of its performance.
