Samsung Display begins production of micro OLED displays for the Galaxy XR

Samsung Display, Samsung's display company, has reportedly begun mass production of OLED micro displays for the Galaxy XR mixed reality headset.

The Samsung Galaxy XR headset itself is currently known to use two micro OLED displays made by Sony and uses OLED on Silicon (OLEDoS) technology.

As reported by GSM Arena, Monday (10/11), with Samsung Display producing similar screens, the company will become the second supplier for manufacturing the Galaxy XR.

This OLEDoS display creates a white OLED on a silicon wafer and uses color filters for RGB colors. The OLED in the Galaxy XR measures 1.3 inches and has a resolution of 3,552 x 3,840 pixels—there's one panel for each eye.

Samsung has also demonstrated some 1.3” OLEDoS panels with RGB, that is, panels that use red, green, and blue diodes, instead of just white diodes.
