This is done to improve national digital security through the Ministerial Regulation on Registration of Telecommunication Service Customers Through Cellular Mobile Networks (RPM Customer Registration which regulates the technical provisions for registration of telecommunication service customers.
According to the official website of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi), Tuesday, the party said that the registration of telecommunications service customers using NIK and No.KK data is often misused by using other people's identities for criminal purposes including spreading hoaxes, online gambling , SMS spamming and fraud.
In fact, the Draft Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Digital concerning Registration of Telecommunication Service Customers Through Cellular Mobile Networks (RPM Customer Registration), is one of the RPMs included in the Work Program of the Ministry of Communication and Digital for the 2025 Fiscal Year.
Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Informatics Number 5 of 2021 concerning the Provision of Telecommunications (PM 5/2021), it is carried out using the Population Identification Number (NIK) and Family Card Number (No.KK) as the identity of prospective telecommunications service customers.
