The popularity of the Nintendo Switch 2 has far exceeded the company's expectations. The Japanese gaming giant has now raised its sales target for the new console by more than 25 percent.
In its latest financial report for the period from April 1 to September 30, reported by TheVerge on Tuesday, Nintendo projected that it would sell 19 million Switch 2 units by March 2026, up from its previous estimate of only 15 million units.
Since its launch last June, the Switch 2 has sold 10.36 million units, with 4.54 million of those units recorded in the latest financial report.
Additionally, Switch 2 game sales have also reached 20.62 million copies since launch, prompting Nintendo to slightly raise its game sales target from 45 million to 48 million units.
The combination of hardware and software sales sent Nintendo's revenue soaring 110 percent year-over-year.
