The chairman of the Cilegon Chamber of Commerce and Industry has not been removed from his position despite being found guilty in the CAA extortion case.

Chairman of the Cilegon City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) M. Salim is still listed as the active chairman despite being found guilty by the Serang District Court (PN) in a case of alleged thuggery and extortion worth up to Rp5 trillion in the Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA) factory construction project.

In the Serang District Court's decision, Salim and four other leaders of the organization, namely Deputy Chairman of the Cilegon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Isbatullah, Deputy Chairman of the Industrial Sector Ismatullah, Chairman of HNSI and Chairman of the Banten BPMMP Rufaji Jahuri, and Zul Basit, were each sentenced to 1.5 years in prison.

Agus Wisas, Chairman of the Organization, Membership, and Governance Division of the Banten Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), stated in Serang City on Thursday that Salim's position remains in place because the decision has not yet become legally binding. He emphasized that the replacement can only be made after it has become legally binding.

"Once the law is legally binding, an Acting Official will be appointed in accordance with the Articles of Association and Bylaws. If the law is legally binding, the person will be dismissed," Agus said.
