Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria invited e-commerce platform providers , electronic commerce services, to help the government train micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to face the challenges of developing businesses in the digital era.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital is holding training for MSMEs under the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA) program and is open to collaborating with e-commerce platform providers to improve the training program.
"This can be further developed to meet existing needs. For example, focusing more on specific topics, such as how to conduct product research or how to grow a business when sales start to increase," Nezar said in a press release in Jakarta on Thursday.
He believes that Indonesian MSMEs are now capable of producing high-quality products that can enter the export market.
"Our MSMEs have learned from the flood of imported products. Now their products are of better quality and premium, worthy of export. We need to continue improving this. I think we have good competitiveness," said Nezar.
However, he continued, there are still many MSMEs who do not have the skills to maintain business sustainability.
"Some start-ups are just starting out but are caught off guard, ultimately becoming unsustainable . Once their products grow, they don't know where to invest their money, or they mismanage it. We need to teach them about things like this," he said.
In addition to developing business capabilities, Nezar said, MSMEs need to increase their creativity to produce value-added products.
Meanwhile, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid said that MSMEs are also not immune to the impact of digitalization.
According to him, the government is ready to help MSMEs optimize the use of digital technology support to build and develop their businesses.
