The Minister of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, Supratman Andi Agtas, inspected the legal aid post (posbankum) in Limba U Satu, Gorontalo City, Gorontalo Province, Friday."This post has begun serving people who want to consult and get information about legal services," said Supratman in Gorontalo.
He explained that at Posbankum there is a mentoring process carried out by paralegals for those who cannot afford it and prepares a legal aid organization that is accredited every three years.
"That's what paralegals do, how to mediate all community groups that are experiencing disputes or problems so that they can be resolved," said Supratman.
The Minister of Law expressed his appreciation to the Gorontalo Regional Office of the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) for establishing 729 Posbakum (legal aid posts) at the village/sub-district level, as a strategic step to strengthen access to justice, especially for people in rural and remote areas.
Previously, the Head of the Gorontalo Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Raymond JH Takasenseran, stated that the presence of the Posbankum aims to provide easily accessible legal aid services, as well as serve as a forum for dispute resolution, increasing legal awareness, and providing legal assistance to the community.
"To ensure equitable service distribution, the target is to have at least one legal aid post in each sub-district as a pilot project, so that village and sub-district residents can easily access the legal services they need," Raymond said.
According to him, the successful establishment of the Posbankum is a tangible result of the synergy between the Gorontalo Provincial Government, the Gorontalo Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and paralegals who have participated in training and actively provide legal aid services to the underprivileged.
