The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) stated that game industry players have demonstrated their commitment to complying with government-mandated child protection regulations in digital spaces.
Irawati Tjipto Priyanti, Director of Digital Investigation at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, stated that after communicating with the Ministry, game platforms and publishers understood their obligations as Electronic System Providers (PSE) and were ready to comply with the applicable regulations.
"They (game platforms and publishers) definitely want to comply. We just need to communicate a lot, and they have good intentions. Hopefully, it will work out well," Irawati said when met.
He emphasized that every game published in Indonesia must ensure that its features and content prioritize the principle of protecting child users.
"This is clearly related to the regulations we've established for PSEs (Electronic System Providers). So they must also comply with those regulations," Irawati said.
It is known that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology strengthened collaboration on digital space supervision, particularly regarding child protection and content moderation, with associations and game industry players in an audience attended by more than 20 global and local game publishers, including AGI, Tencent, Garena, Agate, Megaxus, Nintendo, and Playstation.
