Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid asked media industry players to maintain integrity, independence, and journalistic ethics amidst rapid technological developments.
He said that the mass media plays a strategic role in providing accurate information to the public, including business actors.
"A complex economic ecosystem requires journalism that can analyze data, map trends, and provide relevant perspectives for the public and businesses," Meutya said in Jakarta on Thursday.
He stated that changes in the mass media landscape in recent years require the press to adapt more quickly.
According to him, competition in the mass media industry today is not only between companies, but also between business models and ways of reaching an increasingly fragmented audience.
"This has made the government aware that the challenges facing our media partners in presenting accurate, precise, and reliable information have become much more difficult," he said.
