The Ministry of Communication and Digital has opened public consultations on the Draft Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Digital concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of the Press Council Secretariat.
"In order to implement the provisions of the Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation No. 1 of 2025 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of the Ministry of Communication and Digital regarding organizational arrangements within the Quasi Secretariat, the public needs to be involved in the drafting of legislation," said the Ministry of Communication and Digital in a written statement.
The Press Council Secretariat is a Work Unit functionally responsible to the Chairperson of the Press Council, and administratively responsible to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Digital.
The Press Council Secretariat has the responsibility to provide technical and administrative services to the Press Council. In carrying out these duties, the Press Council Secretariat carries out the following functions: providing support in the preparation of plans, programs, and reports; providing support in the assessment and development of press life and the Press Council Institution; implementing operational services for monitoring the implementation of the journalistic code of ethics, resolving complaints, and enforcing press ethics at the Press Council Institution.
The institution also carries out the functions of implementing support services for the data collection of press companies by the Press Council; providing support for communication services and inter-institutional cooperation at the Press Council Institution; implementing operational services for review, preparation of legal products, advocacy, press expert services and legal assistance at the Press Council Institution.
