Jakarta State University (UNJ) launched the UNJ Golf Academy after signing a cooperation agreement with the Indonesian Golf Association (PB PGI) at the Jakarta Golf Club, Rawamangun, Jakarta, Friday.
In his official statement, the MoU was signed by UNJ Chancellor Prof. Komarudin and General Chairperson of PB PGI Japto Soelistyo Soerjosoemarno, witnessed by the ranks of PB PGI management, UNJ leaders, UNJ Labschool leaders, and campus partners.
"We hope the UNJ Golf Academy can be a real example that golf is an inclusive sport and accessible to anyone with interest and potential," said Japto.
The UNJ Golf Academy is the first golf academy developed by a university in Indonesia and is designed as a training center based on coaching, education, and achievement development.
The academy also aims to open wider access for the public through training programs at more affordable costs.
UNJ Chancellor Prof. Komarudin explained that the academy leverages UNJ's academic strengths, including the involvement of lecturers, students, and alumni of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences.
"The launch of the UNJ Golf Academy is part of our contribution to advancing national sports, while also preparing athletes capable of competing at the global level," he said.
Through this collaboration, UNJ and PB PGI will develop sustainable golf coaching, training, and research programs to strengthen the sports ecosystem in Indonesia.
