The Senegalese national team secured their place in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as Group D winners after securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Benin in their final group stage match at the Tangier Grand Stadium on Wednesday (31/12) early morning WIB.
Fielding at full strength, the Lions de la Teranga were immediately aggressive from the start. Their constant pressure finally paid off in the 38th minute when Abdoulaye Seck headed in front of the Benin goal.
The goal was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for quite some time before it was finally confirmed, even though replays showed the ball had first hit the player's elbow.
The 1-0 lead held until halftime. Entering the second half, Senegal increased the intensity of their attacks.
