Angolan national team player Freddy Ribeiro expressed his deep sadness at his country's exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, currently being held in Morocco, after their match against Egypt.
Angola and Egypt played to a goalless draw in the third and final round of the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations .
Angola finished third in Group B with two points.
Freddy Ribeiro (35 years old) gave a distinguished performance and won the Man of the Match award. He almost scored a goal for his country in the final minutes, but luck was not on his side as his free kick hit the left post and went out of play.
"It's hard to talk," said Freddy Ribeiro tearfully after the match. "I gave my team everything in order to qualify for the next round of the Africa Cup of Nations."
The Angolan player added: "This might be my last match with the Angolan national team. My hope was to qualify and I wished for it, and this will be our last match."
