The Director of Aquabike and Powerboat of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), Randi Wibawa, claims that aquabike sports such as jet skiing have grown significantly in Indonesia in the past year, starting from the number of athletes to the number of competitions in the national championships (kejurnas).
"There has been a significant increase, both in terms of the number of race numbers and the regeneration of young racers," he said in Jakarta on Monday during a press conference for the preparation of the AETI Aquabike Indonesian Championship Season 2025 Final Round, which will be held at the Tanjung Tinggi Geosite, Belitong Unesco Global Geopark, Bangka Belitung, from December 5-7.
He explained that in 2023, Indonesia only sent four riders to the Aquabike World Cup and did not yet have a national-level championship.
