Badou Jack meets weight requirements to retain WBC world title

World Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight champion (90.7 kg) Badou Jack has met the weight requirements to defend his title against Noel Mikaelian on December 13 in Los Angeles, California.

"The experienced champion followed a steady and trouble-free preparation plan at 205 pounds, remaining within the WBC's required weight limit," the WBC reported on its official website, as monitored in Jakarta on Tuesday.

During the final stages of training camp, Jack registered 205 pounds at his weigh-in during the seven days leading up to his next fight against Mikaelian.

This upcoming bout will be their second meeting. In their first encounter in May 2024 in Saudi Arabia, Badou won by majority decision (114-114, 115-113, and 115-113) to retain his WBC cruiserweight title.

The result of the fight was disputed by Mikaelian's side, who felt they had the upper hand. They then appealed to the WBC. The fight, which left unfinished business, sparked calls for a rematch, which is now scheduled to take place before the end of 2025.

At 41 years old, Badou is determined to reassert his classic dominance and prove that he remains one of the most consistent fighters in the cruiserweight division.
