Duran stressed in a tweet via the X platform that it is ironic that Israeli leaders talk about colonial ambitions in others, while they have just committed one of the most heinous genocides in history, referring to the war of extermination in Gaza, noting that “Israel has always been a destabilizing force, and its constant fear about Turkey’s power and influence is ridiculous.”
He continued, saying, "Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey has been a source of stability and peace," stressing that "in contrast, Netanyahu's government has brought blood and tears to the region, and the Israeli government is trying to hide its regional ambitions under the guise of national security requirements."
Duran stressed that Israel remains an occupying power in Palestine and Syria, noting that it has launched attacks on about seven countries in the Middle East during the past two years, and that Netanyahu’s leadership has been a disaster not only for the region, but also for the Israelis.
He continued, saying: "Now Netanyahu's leadership is trying to divert attention from its crimes by attacking Turkey," adding that "we will always stand together with all those who seek peace and stability, and no cheap or ridiculous statements like Netanyahu's will deter us from supporting our Palestinian brothers and sisters, and peace will prevail despite all those who seek to destroy it."
Netanyahu is trying to break the international political isolation he has been suffering since the war of extermination committed by the occupation army against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in October 2013, through rapprochement with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
On Monday, Netanyahu held a joint press conference in occupied Jerusalem with Mitsotakis and the head of the Greek Cypriot administration, Nikos Christodoulides, during which they emphasized what they called strengthening cooperation in defense and in other areas.
