The Civil Defense stated that its teams, in coordination with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), had completed the recovery of five bodies of martyrs and wounded individuals from inside the Gaza Martyrs School, located in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City
They explained that the majority of the martyrs were children, and that a number of wounded individuals were transferred to available hospitals for treatment.
The Civil Defense emphasized that targeting schools and shelters housing displaced civilians constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, and called upon the international community and UN agencies to assume their urgent responsibilities in protecting civilians and ensuring the safety of shelters and humanitarian personnel.
In this context, Hamas affirmed that “the artillery shelling carried out by the occupation army on a school sheltering displaced people is a brutal crime committed against innocent civilians and a blatant and renewed violation of the ceasefire agreement.”
The movement added in a statement published on its Telegram channel that “the terrorist occupation government continues its violations of the ceasefire agreement through its deliberate and ongoing targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of more than 400 martyrs since the agreement was announced over two months ago, amidst a surprising international silence and inaction in the face of this fascist government’s crimes.”
Hamas reiterated its demand that the mediators guaranteeing the agreement and the US administration assume their responsibilities regarding these violations, “and intervene immediately to curb the attempts of the war criminal Netanyahu’s government to impose equations that contradict the content of the agreement and clearly overturn it.”
The targeted area is among the areas from which the Israeli occupation army withdrew, in implementation of the ceasefire agreement in effect in the Gaza Strip since October 10th.
Since that date, Tel Aviv has continued its violations of the agreement that ended the Israeli war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, committing about 738 violations and killing more than 395 Palestinians, according to the government media office in Gaza last Tuesday.
The genocide that began on October 8, 2023, and was supported by Washington and lasted for two years, left more than 70,000 martyrs and 171,000 wounded Palestinians, most of them children and women, and massive destruction with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about $70 billion.
