Two buildings damaged by Israeli bombing collapse in Gaza amid continued ceasefire violations

The Civil Defense in Gaza stated that its crews evacuated residents of the seven-story "Al-Awda 6" tower in the Tel al-Hawa area, southwest of the city, after detecting dangerous cracks and a collapse in the top four floors. They confirmed in a statement that no injuries resulted from the incident.

In a separate incident, local sources reported the collapse of a building belonging to the Al-Mughni family in the Al-Nasr neighborhood of Gaza City, which had been evacuated and previously damaged by bombing.

In recent times, the Gaza Strip has witnessed frequent incidents of houses and residential buildings damaged by Israeli bombing collapsing due to rain and strong winds, which in previous cases led to deaths and injuries.

Many Palestinians are forced to live in cracked and dilapidated buildings, given the widespread destruction of most buildings and the ban on bringing in mobile homes and building materials, despite the fact that more than two months have passed since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on October 10th.

In the same context, the Israeli occupation army continued its violations of the agreement, as it targeted areas east of Gaza City and in the central Gaza Strip with artillery shelling and helicopter gunfire at dawn on Saturday, according to local sources.

In the northern Gaza Strip, the occupation army carried out demolition operations on buildings in areas it still controls east of Gaza City, accompanied by loud explosions in the area.

Israeli artillery also shelled scattered areas in the neighborhoods under its control east of the city, specifically in the Al-Tuffah and Al-Shuja’iya districts, while a military helicopter fired its machine guns towards those areas.

In the central sector, the army fired a number of artillery shells into areas it controls east of the Bureij refugee camp.

In the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli artillery targeted scattered areas of the town of Bani Suheila and the Jorat al-Lut area east of Khan Yunis, areas that are still under its control, and military vehicles fired randomly towards them.

On Friday evening, Israeli artillery shelling targeted a school sheltering displaced people east of Gaza City during a wedding ceremony, resulting in the death of 6 Palestinians, most of them children.

Hamas described the bombing as a "brutal crime" and a "blatant violation" of the ceasefire, calling on mediators and the US administration to intervene to stop the violations. The movement said: "The terrorist occupation government continues its violations of the ceasefire agreement, through its deliberate and continuous targeting of citizens in the Gaza Strip, until more than 400 martyrs have been killed since the agreement was announced more than two months ago."

Hamas indicated that Israel is deepening the humanitarian catastrophe “by preventing ambulances and medical teams from reaching the targeted areas to treat the wounded, and obstructing rescue operations,” considering this policy “a criminal act amounting to a compound crime and constituting a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”

In response, the Israeli army admitted to bombing the shelter, claiming it suspected the presence of individuals inside, and stated that it had opened an investigation into the incident. The targeted area is among those from which the army withdrew under the ceasefire agreement.

Since the agreement came into effect, Israel has committed approximately 738 violations, according to the government media office in Gaza last Tuesday.
